On Tuesday 11 December, Thomas P. Quinn from the University of Washington will give a talk on "Predation by bears on salmon: ecology, behavior and evolution".
Time: 11:15 - 12:00
Place: Animal Science Building, Auditorium H185
Thomas Quinn, who will be visiting Aas as external examiner for Hannah Rajasingh's PhD thesis defence, is a professor at the School of Aquatic & Fishery Sciences, University of Washington in Seattle. His general interest is in fish behaviour and ecology, particularly migratory behaviour, habitat requirements and spawning behaviour. Most, but not all, of his research deals with salmon and trout. In his talk he will treat us to a presentation of his work which has a lot of behaviour, ecology and evolution, with a good mix of data, ideas and photos, and which takes the perspective of both the salmon and the bears.
