Present position: Postdoc in salmon genomics at CIGENE/IHA, UMB.
Degrees: PhD in bioinformatics and statistical genomics (Norwegian University of Life Sciences), 2010; MSc in chemistry and biotechnology engineering (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), 2007.
Research experience: During my PhD I worked on mapping polymorphisms affecting phenotypic traits of economical importance in Norwegian Red cattle by association mapping and linkage mapping using high-density SNP data; construction of linkage maps in Norwegian Red cattle; bioinformatics on high-throughput sequencing data for SNP discovery in the bovine genome; assisting assembly of the bovine genome; population genetics studies including determination of population structure, estimation of population recombination rates, detecting linkage disequilibrium and signatures of selection.
Current research: Bioinformatics for genome assembly and detection of common variation in Brown trout as well as comparative genomics between the closely related Brown trout and Atlantic salmon. I’m also working with identification of polymorphisms affecting important production traits in Atlantic salmon by association mapping/linkage mapping and exploitation of high-throughput sequencing data.
