Present positions: Research Fellow, PhD-student (Norwegian University of Life Sciences, (UMB), Centre for Integrative Genetics, (CIGENE)) and Norwegian Radium Hospital (DNR).

Degrees: Master of Science (Cand. Scient.) Bioinformatics, Department of informatics, University of Oslo (UiO), 2004: Abstract in English, thesis in Norwegian.

Professional background: Wooden boat builder (1990 – 1998), student at UiO (1998 – 2004), researcher at Ullevål University Hospital (2004 – 2006). Also worked as a farm keeper, teacher (from first grade up to university level), in an amusement park, in the abattoir, as a sailing instructor, and as a social worker.

Research experience: Bioinformatics group, Medical genetics, Ullevål University Hospital (2004 – 2006).

Current research activity: I collaborate with Timothy Lavelle at the Department of Tumor Biology, Institute for cancer research at The Norwegian Radium Hospital. We are building a mathematical model of the melanocytes signalling system. In addition to describing the homeostasis of the signalling pattern between the different cells in healthy skin, we want to pinpoint the mechanisms involved in turning a melanocyte into a growing malignant melanoma.
