Present positions: SNP Platform Manager (Centre for Integrative Genetics, CIGENE , Norwegian University of Life Sciences, UMB). Research Fellow, PhD-student (University of Bergen, UiB).

Degrees: Cand. Mag. in general biology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Cand. Scient. in marine biology /population genetics, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Professional background: Research assistant, Marine fauna sampling in the Faroe Islands, BIOFAR (1996). Research Fellow at the University of Bergen (2000 - present). Research assistant, ALAS project, La Selva , Costa Rica (2002). SNP Platform Manager at CIGENE (2003 - present).

Research experience: Genetic population structuring of Norway pout (Trisopterus esmarkii) along the Norwegian coast. Population genetics/evolution of two inbreeding bark beetle species (Coccotrypes carpophagus and C. dactyliperda). Development of novel microsatellite markers in C. carpophagus and C. dactyliperda.

I am currently involved in SNP discovery and genotyping projects in several species (e.g. salmon, cod, cattle, human). I am responsible for the daily running of the CIGENE lab, including development and improvement of our SNP genotyping technologies and quantitative gene expression technologies from Sequenom, Affymetric and Illumina.

Experience in R&D management: I have been an important contributor when the CIGENE lab was initially set up, establishing routines, protocols etc. at the SNP genotyping core facility. In addition, I have been involved in establishing and operating a DNA lab at the University of Bergen. I have extensive experience in planning, coordinating and running various research projects at CIGENE; SNP Platform Manager at CIGENE since 2003.

Current research activity: I am currently participating in several internal CIGENE projects, involving SNP detection, genotyping and analysis of population data in species such as salmon, cod, goat, cattle etc. I am also highly involved in several external genotyping projects together with our collaborative partners/ users. These external projects are mainly based on genotyping of human material.
