Present position: Postdoc (Centre for Integrative Genetics, CIGENE).
Current research activity: Theory and analysis of in silico genotype-phenotype maps. Analyzing multivariate data and behaviour of complex biological systems, as represented by causally cohesive genotype-phenotype (cGP) models. My main responsibility is the heart model work package in the eVITA project "Bridging the gap: disclosure, understanding and exploitation of the genotype-phenotype map". The objective of the work package is, "in a population setting, to establish a computational pipeline for describing, understanding and exploiting the link between genetic concepts and methodologies and the most advanced synthetic phenotype in the world, the mammalian heart model".
Professional background: Postdoc/researcher at the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES), University of Oslo (2002-2008), studying effects of climate change on regulatory mechanisms in population dynamics. Collaborations in a variety of cross-disciplinary projects in ecology, combining experimental data, biological insight, and mechanistic, aggregated and/or statistical models.
Research experience: Individual-based simulation models of population dynamics. Feedback mechanisms and alternative stable population structures. Statistical modelling in ecological demography and dynamics. Generalized linear models and multivariate analysis. Dynamic optimization in behavioural ecology. Climate change and phenology (e.g. bird migration timing). Geographical information systems, landscape structure, meteorological downscaling. Database design, web publishing (content management systems and web programming).
