Practical lab experience:
- Sample (blood) preparation and operation of automated genomic DNA extractor (Qiagen M48).
- Sample (tissue) preparation and kit based RNA extraction (Qiagen M48).
- RNA and DNA quantification with UV/VIS and Fluorescent spectroscopy (Picogreen).
- Development of automated protocols for sample dilution and normalization using Beckman robots.
- A variety of standard molecular techniques including restriction digestion, ligation, primer design, cDNA synthesis, RT-PCR, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, high-throughput DNA up-concentration.
- DNA sequencing with big-dye terminator technology and ABI3730 automated DNA sequencer.
- Whole genome genotyping of 25,000 SNPs in bovine samples using Molecular Inversion Probe technology from Affymetrix.
- Whole genome genotyping of 60K SNPs in porcine samples using iSelect Infinium II technology from Illumina.
- Experience with tracking/management of large sample sets and genotyping data.
- Genotyping using the Illumina GoldenGate protocol.
- Create porcine chromosome maps of Illumina SNPs using the Crimap software.
