Lecture 25 January: Parametric estimation of micro-cultivated yeast growth curves

Professor Olle Nerman from the Dept. of Mathematical Statistics at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, will give a talk entitled: Parametric estimation of micro-cultivated yeast growth curves, model selection, calibration, standardisation, visualisation and feature extraction.

Time: Wednesday 25 January, 10:15 - 11:00
Place: UMB, Animal Science Building, seminar room lower level

This talk will be entirely based on a recent monograph Ph-D thesis by Ilona Pylvänäinen, supervised jointly by Olle Nerman and Anders Blomberg. Focus will be on the interplay between "ideal growth curves" and the measurements recorded, rather than on the interpretation of the particular genomic screenings. Why use modified Chalpman-Richards growth curves? Can we use alternative parametrisation with parameters of interest. How can we adjust properly for varying initial sizes, and how can we make a natural summary curve to represent say 8 repeated growth curves.
