Computational Services

Based on its competence within theoretical regulatory biology, biochemical systems theory, nonlinear system dynamics, statistical genomics and quantitative genetics, the centre (including its international associates) will provide services over a wide range of topics within computational biology for academia as well as industry.

Types of assistance
These services will mainly be provided through frequent seminars, tutorials, workshops and PhD courses open for students and researchers from Norwegian academic institutions and companies. In addition, the institutions and companies are invited to have personnel working on their own data within the CIGENE environment for up to 6 months. The centre will be able to host 6 persons simultaneously. We can also provide assistance in the fields listed below. given that we receive recognition for this work.

Statistical genetics
  • making virtual genome representations;
  • describing and analysing large-scale genome dynamics;
  • identifying haplotypes and measuring linkage disequilibria;
  • location of genes (fine mapping of QTL and identifying QTL interactions);
  • performing multi-trait LD/linkage analyses in complex pedigrees;
  • performing strong multi-trait marker-assisted selection while maintaining genetic variation and a balanced genome;
Multivariate analysis
  • mining of biobank data;
  • classification of high-resolution phenotypic data;
  • drawing inferences from high-resolution phenotypic data;
Mathematical modelling
  • mathematical and numerical methods for describing and analysing gene regulatory and/or metabolic networks;
  • identifying and validating regulatory networks by various types of causal inference and causal modelling tools;
  • ways to perform a conceptual and methodological integration of nonlinear system dynamics, mathematical statistics, biological theory, and genotypic and phenotypic data to promote a mechanistic understanding of complex genetic systems.
