The research project
The successful candidate will join the team responsible for research on combining genetics theory and methodology with computer models of mammalian physiology and pathophysiology to better understand the genetics of complex traits. The team currently consists of four postdocs, one PhD student and two researchers. Our collaborators in this field include Peter Hunter, Auckland Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland; Nic Smith, University of Oxford; Andrew McCulloch, Cardiac Mechanics Research Group, University of California San Diego; Dan Beard, Department of Physiology, Medical College of Wisconsin; Tom Kirkwood, Institute for Ageing and Health, University of Newcastle; and Geir Christensen and Ole Sejersted, Centre for Heart Failure Research, University of Oslo.
Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a Master of Science degree or the equivalent, preferably in statistical genetics, computational biology or related subjects.
- The project is concentrated around work with complex simulation models in a supercomputer environment and applicants should have previous experience with numerical simulations.
- Previous experience with quantitative genetics theory is also highly desirable.

Annual gross salary starts at level 45 on the Norwegian Government salary scale (approximately NOK 353,200/EUR 40,000). Increases in salary will be according to seniority rights.
