CIGENE is currently inviting applications for a limited-term 28-month postdoc position for pioneering the modelling of the ageing heart. This will be an exciting project aimed at representing how the ageing process affects heart function within the strongly established framework of the international Physiome project.
The work will be focused on pioneering the integration of mathematical representations of ageing processes in single cells and tissues with advanced multiscale models of the mammalian heart.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team led by Peter Hunter, Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland, Tom Kirkwood, Newcastle University and Stig W. Omholt, Centre for Integrative Genetics. The candidate will be formally affiliated with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, but must be willing to spend extensive periods in Auckland and Newcastle.
Ideally, the candidate will have a strong background in mathematical modelling of biological systems and a good understanding of cell biology and physiology. However, proven talent and documented willingness to acquire new skills can compensate for gaps in formal qualifications. Applicants must have successfully completed their doctoral degree. We expect candidates to be highly skilled in their field, self-motivated, eager to take the initiative, in possession of good interpersonal skills and willing to work in close collaboration with others.
