Postdoctoral fellow/Research scientist - Bioinformatics/Data Analysis

CIGENE — Centre for Integrative Genetics — is a multi-institutional research centre hosted by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) at Aas, 30 km south of Oslo. CIGENE (www.cigene.no) aims to contribute to a deep causal understanding of complex genetic characters in fish, plants and animals for scientific and commercial exploitation based on an integrative genetics approach. As a core facility under the Norwegian Functional Genomics Programme (www.fuge.no), CIGENE is also responsible for providing a national service for detection, typing and interpretation of SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms), and for systems-oriented computational biology.

CIGENE is now inviting applications for a three-year postdoctoral fellowship/research position associated with CIGENEs computational services.

The candidate's work will be focused towards development and application of multivariate data analysis methodology with high-throughput genotype/phenotype data - in particular case/control association studies based on data generated by our SNP technology platforms MassARRAY, Affymetrix and Illumina.

Candidates should have an educational background in bioinformatics and/or statistics and/or computational biology. Candidates should also be able to document solid programming skills and be familiar with R/Matlab/Perl/Java/C in Windows or Linux environments. Applicants must have successfully completed their doctoral degree. We expect candidates to be highly skilled in their field, self-motivated, eager to take the initiative, in possession of good interpersonal skills and willing to work in close collaboration with others.
