3 vacancies for PhD fellowships at CIGENE will shortly be announced. We are seeking candidates in the following disciplines: 1) multivariate analysis/statistics, 2) experimental biology, and 3) quantitative genetics.
The fellowships, each of three years duration, will be linked to the Research Council of Norway’s eSCIENCE project - “Bridging the gap: disclosure, understanding and exploitation of the genotype-phenotype map”.
The first fellowship will be part of a team working on Work package 2 - Bridging the genotype-advanced synthetic phenotype gap, where the main goal is to: In a population setting establish a computational pipeline for describing, understanding and exploiting the link between genetic concepts and methodologies and the most advanced synthetic phenotype in the world, the mammalian heart model.
The two other fellowships will be part of a team working on Work package 3 - Pioneer the establishment and exploitation of the genotype-phenotype map in yeast as a model system for genetics theory development, where the main goal is to: Establish a generic yeast model population for the genetics community, document that the quantitative genetics behaviour of this population is in accordance with the genetics of higher eukaryotes, and use the model population together with ultra-high-throughput sequencing and new bioinformatics software to study key theoretical issues associated with the genotype-phenotype map.
The positions will be announced in full at a later date on this website and on www.umb.no, through which formal applications may be submitted. At this point we invite you to send a preliminary statement of interest, attaching your CV ONLY, to
