PhD fellowship - Functional genomics

Functional genomics to advance dairy cattle health

The PhD student will work with state-of-the-art technologies in functional genomics (microarrays, rcPCR and high-throughput SNP-technology) to study the genetic basis of clinical mastitis in two selection groups of cattle; one selected for low mastitis and one selected for high milk protein production.

Candidates should hold a Master of Science degree or the equivalent in genetics, molecular biology or bioinformatics. Experience from functional genomic research, including the use of modern high-throughput technologies for genome analysis, will weigh heavily in a candidate’s favour. The successful candidate will be required to enter a Ph.D. programme at UMB and expected to complete his/her doctorate in the course of the three-year project period.

The position is located at CIGENE’s premises at UMB.. Annual salary starts at level 41 on the Norwegian Government salary scale (approximately NOK 310,700). Applicants should submit two copies of their written application and detailed CV together with copies of relevant publications. Officially certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts and references should also be included.
