15-17 March: Course in Multivariate Data Analysis

A three-day do-it-yourself data modelling course in multivariate data analysis will be held at UMB on 15th - 17th March 2011.

Participants are expected to have experience in research and an acknowledged need for data analysis. But mathematical, statistical or programming expertise is not necessary – the course is focused on practical, graphically oriented, interactive hands-on data analysis, not on mathematical modelling or statistical distribution theory. The course will be taught by Prof. Harald Martens.

Goal: Enable participants to start analysing their own data tables to discover statistically valid patterns, and test hypotheses, without much statistical theory.
Format: Guided do-it-yourself exercises, using The Unscrambler version X, (originally developed at Matforsk/Nofima Mat 1981-1985, now widely sold internationally, see www.camo.com). No programming is involved.
Data: Various sets concerning designed multi-channel measurements, provided by course leader.
Organisers: CIGENE and the Research School in Systems Biology. The course is supported by funding from The Research Council of Norway's FUGE-Øst programme for Functional Genomics research.

Places are limited, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please contact CIGENE's administrator Barbara Eriksen.
