MATLAB / Simulink course, 9 – 11 June 2004

CIGENE is pleased to announce a course in the programming tools MATLAB and Simulink, and is now accepting registrations.

MATLAB and Simulink represent an advanced integrated numerical platform that is industry-standard, and together they meet most of the requirements a computational biologist can expect to face in the area of high-performance numerical computation and visualisation. The course consists of three independent modules, so participants can choose how many modules they wish to take.

The course will take place at the following times:
Module 1: Wednesday 9 June 12:00 – 18:00
Module 2: Thursday 10 June 09:00 – 16:00, followed by optional individual practice
Module 3: Friday 11 June 09:00 – 15:00

Location: Agricultural University of Norway (NLH), Biotechnology Building, room BT3A.10

Instructor: Prof. Tor Arne Johansen, Dept. of Engineering Cybernetics, NTNU (http://www.itk.ntnu.no/ansatte/Johansen_Tor.Arne/)

This is intended to be an introductory course, but participants should possess an elementary knowledge of MATLAB and be familiar with its basic functions. Suggested prior reading:
- Rudra Pratap: Getting Started with MATLAB 6 – A Quick Introduction for Scientists and Engineers, Oxford University Press, 2002.
- Lars Snipen and Jan Søreng: En kort introduksjon til MATLAB

An advanced MATLAB course will be planned for this autumn.
